Course Description

Level II Non-Commission

This course provides the basic foundation for anyone wishing to work in the private security industry in the state of Texas. This six-hour course exceeds the state of Texas’ guidelines and provides a wealth of industry required and related knowledge.

Level III Commission

This 40 hour course is mandated by the state of Texas for all armed security officers. Course covers: Penal code, Arrest Authority, Commission Rules, Field Notes/Report Writing, Crime Scene, Patrol Services, Cover/Concealment, Use of Force, Conflict Resolution, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing, Firearms, and Firearm Qualification.

Complete Security Officer Package

This 90+ hour course is one of the most comprehensive in the private security industry and nd includes classroom and live fire exercises. The following material is presented in the course:

  • TX PSB Level III – 40 hours
  • ASP Baton – 8 hours
  • OC Spray – 4 hours
  • Tactical/Felon Handcuffing – 2 hours
  • Weapon Retention – 2 hours

Advanced Dog Handler

This course is a hands-on, practical application course that will be a minimum of one week. Students are required to have taken the basic dog handler course and show proficiency in the same before beginning this course. Students will be taught off leash obedience as well as correction techniques. They will then be taught the mechanics of protection/patrol. They will become proficient in all phases of bite work to include but not limited to, the attack, stand-off, recall and guard. Students will also be introduced to decoy equipment and have a general understanding of use of this gear.

Advanced Dog Response

In today’s society, law enforcement often comes in contact with aggressive dogs as they are so commonly used for home protection. These encounters are not only dangerous but pose a high level of threat to the officer. In this course, officers will learn proper techniques and procedures when faced with an aggressive canine as well as learn how to prevent these encounters from taking place. Officers will also learn what to do in the event of an attack and the best ways to get out of the situation.

Advanced Executive Protection

This program offers 40 hours of instruction in which each student will learn sophisticated, innovative skills and techniques pertaining to personal performance on protective assignments. Lectures will review principles, doctrine, methodology, mechanics, guidelines, movements, dimensions and checklists for the protection of executives, officials, celebrities, religious and world leaders.

This program is for individuals involved in other security careers, such as law enforcement and military, and who have an interest in the field of providing personal protection. Students who complete this course will truly understand the difference between bodyguard work and professional personal protection.

Basic Dog Decoy

This course is a hands-on, practical application course that will be a minimum of one week. In this course, students will be given an in-depth look into decoying. Students will understand that the decoy is the primary teaching tool in any protection training session and understand how to better the dog they are decoying. They will learn to read dogs movements and reactions to ensure they are providing the best training possible. Students will also be given insight into canine psychology.

Conflict Resolution

This course teaches officers how to handle conflicts in a courteous, professional manner. The course will cover Communication, Behavior Signs, Redirecting Negative Behavior and De-escalation Techniques. The course utilizes real-world, in the field techniques not simply book theory.

Ethics/Professionalism

This course discusses the Ethical/Professional areas related to security. The course includes; ethical behavior, acting objectively, prejudices, client relations and basic moral codes. Students will discuss how Ethics are related to their job and affect their work.

First Aid/CPR/AED

This course meets OSHA Guidelines for First Aid Programs and combines lecture, interactive video demonstrations featuring emergency scenarios that are likely to occur in a variety of environments and hands-on training to teach participants lifesaving skills.

  • First Aid: Participants learn to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies, such as burns, cuts and scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck and back injuries, and heat and cold emergencies.
  • CPR Adult: Participants learn how to perform CPR and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults
  • AED: Participants learn how to use automatic external defibrillators
Handcuffing (Felon/Tactical)

The State required Level III training includes basic handcuffing only. This is the factory certified ASP Tactical Handcuffing course and will expand upon that State basic training and include further variations, techniques and applications. THIS IS NOT A GENERIC HANDCUFFING COURSE!! During this 4-hour certification program students will learn:

  • The operational use of ASP Tactical Handcuffs
  • Focus on:
    • Portation (Carrying)
    • Presentation (Drawing)
    • Handcuff application techniques
  • Conditions in which restraints may be used
  • Justification for use of restraints
  • How to document use of restraints
Handgun for Security Officers

The State required Level III course only covers limited basics in firearms. This course teaches students the skills essential for the safe, effective and responsible use of a pistol for self-defense. From a review of safe firearms handling and marksmanship (stance, grip, trigger control, sighting, follow through) to presentation from the holster and multiple shooting positions, this course contains the essential skills and techniques needed to help prevail in a deadly force situation.

K-9 Handler - Basic

This course covers the basic rudimentary skills for K9 (dog) control and obedience. The course consists of both lecture and practical exercises with the dogs. Course material will include safe handling techniques, the K9 Use of Force Continuum, proper checking of K9’s fitness for duty, interactions with the public and canine behavior. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be certified in the K9 Basic Handling.

Law Enforcement Officer Defensive Tactics Instructor

The student will develop a functional level of knowledge and skills in the areas of arresting/handcuffing, weaponless techniques for control or self defense, intermediate weapons (batons: ASP, Monadnock, and PR-24) techniques for control or self defense, handgun/edge weapons retention and disarm techniques, and OC survival tactics. The candidate will identify and/or demonstrate knowledge of principles of subject control; ground fighting, escorts, locks and holds. The student will also learn officer survival tactics for patrol.

Law Enforcement Officer Street Survival

The student will develop a functional level of knowledge and performance in the areas of physical fitness as related to Law Enforcement duties and officer survival. The student will learn balance and core strength while developing knowledge of defensive tactics techniques. The student will also develop a functional level of knowledge and performance in the areas body mechanics as it pertains to “stand-up” and “ground” techniques.

OC (Pepper) Defensive Spray

The OC Defense Spray class is designed to promote safe and effective use of law enforcement/security chemical defense sprays. The participant will learn when defense sprays are appropriate, tactics and techniques of application and proper means of handling and decontamination of those exposed. Additionally the participant will be aware of the probable medical implications associated with the use of defense sprays. This course is required to carry OC (Pepper) spray while on duty as a Commissioned Security officer. This class covers:

  • History of law enforcement chemical weapons
  • Composition of modern defense sprays
  • Physiological effects of defense sprays
  • Delivery systems
  • Use of force issues
  • Tactics of application
  • Control tactics follow-up procedures
  • Decontamination procedures
  • Defense spray selection
  • Practical exercises
Patrol Tactics - Advanced

This course covers advanced tactics used in the field. Areas covered will include perimeter control, solo tactical movement, moving with a partner, building clearance and vehicle cover. The course is part lecture with most of the instruction being practical exercises.

Patrol Tactics - Intermediate

This course covers actual, in the field procedures and techniques that most officers will be using. The course will cover techniques on how to safely and efficient patrol on foot and in a vehicle. Subjects such as “Fatal Funnel”, night patrol techniques, flashlight discipline, observation skills, patrol patterns and personal interactions will be covered.

Re-certification Training

Seal Security Texas has an on-going training program that ensures security officers’ safety and the people and assets being protected. Security officers receive training throughout the year. A certificate is awarded to each officer up completion. Each employee is given extensive testing to guarantee they understand the information and will know how to respond with the appropriate tactic that will help ensure safety for you and your family.

Report Writing - Intermediate

This course expands upon the basics learned in the Level II/III Security Officer course. Students will learn 1st person vs. 3rd person narratives, sentence/report structure, proper grammar, report formatting and review sample reports.

Security Officer Orientation

The Tactical Training Facility Orientation is a prerequisite for any individual interested in training in the building. It is designed to familiarize our students with the safety guidelines that S.E.A.L. Security has set forth. This class will include a tour of the facility and its customized tactical training features. Students will learn about our UTM weapons and ammunition, as well as the proper use of related equipment.

Tactical Baton

This is the factory certified ASP Tactical Baton course, not a generic expandable baton course. Officers completing this course will be certified by ASP as a Tactical Baton user. Officers do not need to have or carry an ASP brand baton to attend this course. Officers do need to be certified to carry a baton while on duty as a Commissioned Security Officer. During this 8-hour certification program students will learn:

  • Use of Force Continuum
  • Portation (carrying)
  • Presentation (drawing)
  • Striking techniques
  • Mechanical function
  • Maintenance of the ASP expandable baton
  • Legal considerations of use of force
  • SOPs for incident reporting
Taser

This is the factory certified X26 Taser course. This course is required to carry a Taser while on duty as a Commissioned Security officer. This class covers:

    • How TASER ECDs are designed to override and control the sensory and motor functions of the nervous systems of a combative subject
    • Proper finger position for aiming, firing, discharging, and re-energizing
    • How to reload in a safe and proper manner.
    • How to control unit adequately when commanded
    • Knowing when the TASER ECD is armed and ready to deploy
    • How to properly check battery pulse rate, remove and reinstall batteries

  • How to utilize the LASER and fixed sights
  • Proper probe placement
  • The principles of Neuro-Muscular Incapacitation
  • The risks associated with ECD use
  • How to draw the TASER ECD and hit targets at various distances while under stress
  • How to properly remove probes from subject
Weapon Retention

Officers are responsible for properly carrying their handguns and equally responsible to maintain control of those handguns. This course teaches techniques of handgun retention. Instruction will include weapon retention theory and principles, retention/distraction techniques and practical exercises. Students will be taught techniques from both the gun-holstered and gun-drawn positions.
